My name is Alex Kukai, a Scottish photographer of Hungarian descent. I chose the name Alex out of respect for my father and use it as my professional name in English-speaking contexts.

With decades of photography experience and a deep passion for the craft, I earned my advanced photography diploma in Scotland. My primary focus is portrait photography, where I enjoy creating both traditional headshots and half- or full-body images. My style blends classic techniques with fashion photography, occasionally incorporating a touch of sensuality inspired by Helmut Newton’s work. In portraits, I particularly love highlighting a model’s natural beauty with lighting and an authentic, unique expression, capturing a slice of their personality in the process. I collaborate with both professional and amateur models, and studio work is my favorite, as it allows me full control over lighting and backgrounds. However, I also thrive outdoors, with a special affinity for street fashion—though Scotland’s weather often poses a challenge.

Another passion of mine is nature photography, encompassing landscapes and wildlife. Scotland’s stunning scenery—the lush glens, waterfalls, mountains, forests, and rugged, rocky coastlines—inspires me daily.
